An Exhibition of Donations to The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong

Donation is an act as well as art of giving. It represents the goodwill of an individual offered as gift(s) to the receiver. Very often these gifts were once the prized collection of the individuals who cherished their possession for a particular reason. Over the years, the University has been blessed enough to have received these gifts to form our collection. With the timely founding and set up of the Foundation Gallery, the University has dedicated a section of the gallery space for the display of these objects of interest.

But instead of simply showing them as exhibits, the Working Group on Foundation Gallery Curation came up with a creative concept of interpreting the objects by the students and staff of different departments and schools, with relevant approaches unique to their disciplines and subjects, adding another layer of meaning to the objects themselves. Thus, this permanent exhibition section of the Gallery is now truly a Cabinet of Curiosities – the Wunderkammer of donations and gifts!
